Yeah, I think after season 1, the writers may have been keen on making the series a bit darker. First Lync and Volt, who are supposingly dead, then there's the Alternative self-destructing which killed Zenoheld, Hydron, and Professor Clay, and now we have season 3 where a good number of betrayal and death led too.
