The have crazy POI issues due to redesigned recoil reducing chevrons in the stocks. It is a design flaw that benelli refuses to address. A bunch of us had them - were missing birds like crazy and ended up dumping them after reading about this. Most of us shoot Franchi Affinity 3.5’s or Berettas or Versamax’s now and are happy.I got the affinity and have zero regrets. I got the walnut version for about $600 on gunbroker where the M2 was significantly more without offering much benefit for my use. I think the major differences would be the affinity being a little more heavy, and maybe the benelli having the recoil reducing stock, depending on the specific model. 2.The a300 will shoot softer so it will help for high volume shooting or shooting with heavy loads. I can't think of any advantage for the affinity, but its still a very good gun. I see the affinity as a walk a lot shoot a little gun, and the a300 more as a waterfowl/clay/dove gun. I’ve also had my eye on the benelli m2, but wonder if there’s more value in getting the Franchi or Retay over the name benelli.

The M2 holds four rounds to the five for the Silver and both can accept extensions. The Silver should also be a little better with lighter loads (bigger difference in 12 gauge). The Silver has a top locking lug and the M2 has a rotary bolt face. The primary difference was that the M2 recoil spring is in the butt stock whereas the Franchi has the recoil spring located around the mag tube, like most other brands do.
