Feb 10, 2016 · C5 General - MGW shifter issue - Ever since we installed the MGW going from 4 to 5 is a little challenging. There is play in the stick while in 4th gear left to right. So if you don't move the stick right to take up the slack before leaving 4th you will often end up back in 3rd instead of 5th.

Oct 26, 2020 · The OEM shifter is noticeably longer than the MGW, plus the OEM shift **** is perched pretty high once installed. And it's funny; now that it's installed and I've put some butt time behind it, it fits perfectly with my 2010 C6 GS Vette platform, and should have come from the factory like THIS for the money they charged folks (10 years ago).

The MGW comes in 25% and 35% shorter throw than the C6 shifter. You do the math to figure out how much shorter that makes it to the C5. Like, the top of the knob would swing .75 of an inch in either direction (1.5~ of play total) once in gear.

My Hurst shifter feels more precise than the stock shifter, but the throw is only about 1/8th inch less.
