Jun 9, 2018 · Drastic fix for faulty RAB. Previously I had posted in a few threads about how the RAB would fail and disable itself until the next time the car was started. There was also a tied in issue with the airbag throwing some generic code and also being disabled when the RAB failed.

Something is not right. Eyesight can be fussy about lighting, dust, condensation etc but it should be occasionally off, not frequently. Your dealer should do a full recalibration as a minimum. If they won't, try another dealer or call SOA and explain the issue.

While RAB is turned off, there are no further issues with backing up the trailer. You should see "RAB Off" displayed on the lower or middle left side of the screen, in or near the area showing the backup camera view.

My driveway is fairly steep. When I back out, RAB always alerts when it sense the bottom of the drive where it meets the street (the angle of driveway/street relative to bumper changes so sensors pick up the street as an obstacle). Way too often, RAB slams on the brakes (ABS & all), even if I'm going maybe 2-3 mph.

Supposedly if you go into the cars system settings on the dash under RAB you can turn off the Sonar sensors then the RAB will show as off. That is not happening on my 2019. The sensors are off and it's much better but the RAB is not off.
