I love kineticist, but the class is very much a B tier class unless you take Deadly Earth and then win forever without trying. You just described like 95% of all the classes lol. Ok just did a test run on my kineticist with Fire/Earth composite blast. What I am seeing is two entries for damage as the results of the attack. Fire is base 20d6 (lvl 20 composite blast)+ 6d6 (greater kineticist crown) +2d6 (lesser kineticist rod) = 28d6+43 damage base. Then it is x.5 .You would have to build one correctly, but they have (if built that way) automatic crowd control in a few ways. With no limit on endurance. And with the option to target touch AC instead of full AC. Basically, if you ask me if I'd rather run an archer or an "unfair kineticist" build I'd pick kineticist every time.
