When I saw the leaking RH disconnect, I bought both new hoses. After replacing, it still leaked on the RH hose. So I checked the o-ring in both the old and new connectors and looked for damage on the heater core nipples. Everything looks to be in perfect condition. I tried adding silicone grease and reseating the hose, but still it leaks.

Lets start with this: 2001 F-150 SCrew 5.4. That looks like the hose I'm having to replace. Inside this hose is a metal object which I assume is the flow restrictor. The hose split at the edge of the metal fitting on the intake. That side is easy enough to take off. Pinch the clip and out it comes.So, 12 years of grime etc. mean I couldn't get out the old hose from the heater matrix - just wouldn't budge. Rather than risk damaging the matrix I decided to cut the old hose and splice it to a bit of new hose with a 19mm brass pipe connector from eBay and a couple of jubilee clips.
