I have a 2002 duramax 2500hd, The truck will only start with starting fluid, When i shut it off after its been running for a while i can start it up no problem. When it sits for about 1hr then i have to use starting fluid again. Theres lots of cranking power, brand new glow plugs, new fuel filter.

If no signal to the BCM, check the pink wire on connector X1 at the BCM, pin 2, and the white wire connector X1 at the BCM pin 4. With the key in start position, both of these should have voltage. Pin 4 should have 5V. Now it just cranks, between 1500 and 1800psi. I bought a brand new filter head/filter, still no change. Bought MA rebuild kit. Found a crushed o-ring in the brand new filter head. Replaced all seals, still no change. Bought driver side fuel rail with new sensors, no change. When it goes into reduced engine, the ECM turns off the injector on the cylinder that is knocking, and it goes away. Guessing you can figure out which cylinder it is by turning off injectors with a scan tool.

If it has signal from the key every time then the problem is the starter. We bought a 2014 duramax with blown motor, with egr def delete. We bought a motor I was told it was a lml. Ended up being a lgh, out of a cab chassis 2013, everything matched up other then one egr plug. But being as egr is deleted it shouldn't be a huge deal, the truck cranks but won't fire up. Pinching the return line isn't always enough. The injectors need a good bit of pressure to fire. If you apply a little bit of air pressure to the return line, and crank it, that will be your best chance of getting it to fire up quicker. Don't go crazy with the air though, 60-80 psi is about what I'd try to start off.

Inspect the fuel lines to/from the CP4 and make sure they are not dry rotted/cracked or kinked in any way.
