Ever since I switched from a 2bbl to a 4bbl many years ago, my transmission kickdown on my TH350 in my 1972 has been goofy. Last night, after I had finished up some work I was doing on the car I reattached the throttle cable and the transmission kickdown cable and took the car out for a ride.

The TH350 transmission uses two accumulators. The accumulator for second gear, shown here, is located in the transmission case. It uses a large heavy-duty spring. It’s a common practice for transmission builders to leave out the spring during rebuilding (and some shift kits recommend it), which significantly firms and shortens the 1-2 shift.10513 posts · Joined 2002. #2 · Feb 26, 2003. I don't know if there is a proper torque sequence. When I'm unsure, I start at the center and work in a widening circle to the outside. It wouldn't hurt to make two full passes to achieve your final torque. I wouldn't use silicone on the pan gasket, but that's just me. Some might recommend it.

I think the trans connection on the radiator is a little mis understood. It's purpose is not to cool the trans fluid, but to warm it up during winter months.The trans fluid doesn't move through any fins in the radiator. IF your converter clutch is bouncing in & out of lock up under light throttle application..... I would suspect a bad vacuum meter valve. There is a vacuum switch that will cancel lock up when vacuum drops far enough..

Reply.Unfortunately, this part is wrong, It IS a kickdown cable. The later OD transmissions, namely the 700R4 and the 200-4R DO use a throttle valve cable that operates as you describe.
