This is made from high strength stainless steel it is design withstand the rigors of heavy use. It is available for all XD and XDM models. It is great for gun games such as IDPA where you are require to shoot to slide lock and for those use a thumbs forward grip. The XD 45 model is the same as the XDm 9/40.

The need to dry fire it to release the slide has always been part of the XD. The fact that you don't need to do it for XDm is a selling point. But in fact dry firing the XD for disassembly will not harm the gun at all. XDs was developed starting with the XDm design. So it also does not require pulling the trigger to release the slide.
